Most road authorities and asset managers find iROADS does everything they need straight out of the box. It brings together asset condition data, maintenance planning, budgeting and reporting in one powerful platform.
However, for larger organisations with complex operations, there’s often another big player in the picture: Oracle Utilities Work and Asset Cloud Services (WACS). Many use it to manage field work, schedule crews and large-scale operations running like clockwork.
Connecting iROADS and WACS can be a game-changer – Joining the ‘thinkers’ with the ‘doers’ for a smoother, more efficient workflow.
Two Experts, One Language
Picture iROADS and WACS as two highly skilled teammates:
- iROADS is the strategic planner. It knows your assets, understands their condition and decides what needs attention.
- WACS is the action-taker. It manages teams, schedules and keeps track of fieldwork progress.
Integration makes sure these two experts speak the same language. If iROADS identifies a road section that needs resurfacing, that task can automatically appear in WACS as a work order. Once completed, WACS sends the results back, keeping iROADS’ records instantly up to date.
Why Integration Matters
When iROADS and WACS are linked, you get:
- Less manual work
No more retyping asset IDs, work descriptions, or costs between systems. The integration moves the data for you. - Better Coordination
Field teams know exactly what to do and when, while planners see live progress without chasing for updates. - Accurate reporting
Financial, operational and performance data all come from one consistent source of truth. - Faster decisions
With live data from both systems, managers can make informed choices without waiting for weekly or monthly updates.
How the Integration Works
The connection between iROADS and WACS is through Oracle Integration Cloud.
This is Oracle’s own secure platform for linking its cloud services with other applications. It comes ready with ready-to-use templates, which can be adapted to fit your organisation’s exact needs.
The link is built using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC). WACS exposes integration points through REST and SOAP APIs, File-Based Data Import (FBDI), and prebuilt adapters for ERP Financials, Project Costing, and Field Service.
iROADS sends asset, location, and work plan data into WACS through OIC. WACS executes work orders, schedules crews, and returns status updates, cost details, and completion records back to iROADS.
With the integration in place, iROADS can seamlessly send asset details to WACS, making them instantly available for job scheduling. In return, WACS can feed back job updates, completion notes and resource usage directly into iROADS… keeping records accurate and current.
Even cost and financial data can flow effortlessly between WACS and your accounting systems, ensuring every part of your operation stays in sync.

iROADS Oracle WACS Integration data flows
Four Steps to Seamless Integration
- Plan the integration
Decide what data to share, how often and in which direction – one-way or two-way. Identify which teams need access and what success looks like. - Set up the link
Configure Oracle Integration Cloud to connect both systems, mapping data fields so they match correctly. For example, for example, “Road Section ID” in iROADS matches “Asset ID” in WACS. - Test thoroughly
Run through real-life scenarios to make sure information flows correctly. Create a work order in iROADS and check it appears correctly in WACS. Complete a job in WACS and make sure iROADS updates instantly. - Go live and monitor
Once you’re happy… Launch the integration. Keep an eye on performance, fix any issues and adjust as needs evolve.
The Bigger Picture
With iROADS and WACS working together, road authorities gain more than efficiency.
You create a fully connected ecosystem where asset condition, planned works, on-site execution and financial tracking all share the same heartbeat. This means better service for the public, smarter use of budgets and smoother operations for your teams.>
With proven technology, built-in security and deep expertise on both sides, connecting iROADS and WACS isn’t just about linking software; it’s about uniting planning and execution into one powerful coordinated operation.
