Common mistake when opening an older file in TRANSYT 14 or TRANSYT 13

Problem: Trying to open an old TRANSYT 12 file in TRANSYT 13 and in TRANSYT 14 causes an error message.

Answer:

TRANSYT 15 and TRANSYT 16: Since the above problem could catch people out, this method has been changed since TRANSYT 15. To open a file produced with earlier versions of TRANSYT, you simply select the file via the “Open” command.  N.B. Imports from third-party products are still carried out using the “Import” menu options.

TRANSYT 13 and TRANSYT 14: To open a file produced with earlier versions of TRANSYT such as TRANSYT 12, in either TRANSYT 13 or TRANSYT 14 you need to use the menu item “Import” and not the “Open” command.  You can tell from the windows Open dialog box that the only file type the program is looking for is either a “.T13” file (if using TRANSYT 13) and a “.T14 file (if using TRANSYT 14).
