Using Junctions 8 or Junctions 9, you can very quickly set up an ARCADY or PICADY model. If you are using the most common options, then you can ignore most of the more advanced options and settings that the program offers. Instead, you only need to use a few screens to set up the junction geometry and flows and then see the results.
This quick-start guide summarises the steps needed to set up a basic model for a 3-arm roundabout using the ONE HOUR (ODTAB) traffic profile. Setting up a PICADY model follows the same steps.
Quick-start guide to using Junctions 8
If you are using Junctions 9, the steps are the same although some of the screens may look slightly different.
ARCADY 6 / PICADY 5 users may also be interested in Appendix A of the Junctions 8/9 User Guide, which includes a section showing the location in Junctions 8 of equivalent ARCADY 6 / PICADY 5 screens.
