Why use Junctions 10?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Based on over three decades of research and development, Junctions 10 is used to model and predict capacity, queues and delays at roundabouts, priority intersections and isolated (uncoordinated), traffic signal-controlled junctions. At signalled junctions it can evaluate a set of known signal timings and can optionally optimise stage lengths and cycle times to minimise delay. Most recently, the performance of simple adaptive traffic signals can also <\/span>be evaluated.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The integration of priority intersection, roundabout and signal modelling capability means\u00a0<\/span>you<\/span> can switch a junction between priority and signalised options and compare the results within one package and <\/span>you<\/span>\u00a0can also evaluate the impact of a signalled junction on an adjacent signalled junction and vice versa.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who uses\u00a0Junctions?\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Junctions has been successfully used to design and improve thousands of junctions in the UK and throughout the world.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It has a host of satisfied customers including governments, multinational organisations, regional transport authorities and academic institutions. Organisations from the smallest one-person consultancy up to the largest multinational organisation have successfully used one or more of its components<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u00a0can\u00a0Junctions 10\u00a0model?\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Junctions 10 consists of ARCADY<\/a> <\/span>(the Roundabout Module), PICADY<\/a> <\/span>(the Priority Intersection Module), and OSCADY<\/a> <\/span>(the Signalised Intersection Module). All three modules are fully integrated, allowing quick changes of junction type without loss of shared data, and is for the first time ever, sold as one complete value package.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The ARCADY<\/a> module models and predicts capacity, queues and delays at\u00a0<\/span>roundabouts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Roundabouts are modelled using the well-established TRL\/Kimber capacity relationships (<\/span>the ARCADY<\/a> Model<\/span>), which\u00a0<\/span>take into account<\/span> key roundabout geometries and intrinsically link roundabout geometry to driver behaviour and, in turn, to predict capacities, queues and delays.\u00a0ARCADY<\/a> allows a number of new modelling scenarios to be evaluated such as priority chicanes and one-ways. North American users also have the option of using the HCM 2010 model (using HCM 2016 roundabout coefficients) to analyse roundabout designs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

PICADY<\/a> model<\/span>s<\/span> priority-controlled junctions, such as crossroads and T-junctions.\u00a0<\/span>PICADY<\/a> now offers the ability to calibrate models in all circumstances, by applying adjustments to the model\u2019s individual traffic movement raw capacities. <\/span>Models applicable to North America allow users to setup and model Two-Way Stop Controlled (TWSC) and All-Way Stop Controlled (AWSC) intersections.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The OSCADY<\/a> module model<\/span>s<\/span> signalised junctions and can generate optimised signal timings that minimise delay at the junction. A welcome addition to OSCADY<\/a> is the ability to model basic adaptive signal<\/span>–<\/span>controlled junctions within its lane simulation mode. <\/span>Signals\u00a0data can be copied from OSCADY<\/a> into TRANSYT<\/a> and vice versa, so that files started in OSCADY<\/a> can be transferred into TRANSYT<\/a> <\/span>if more advanced functionality is required.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lane Simulation tool can be used to model junctions in a different way using a simple simulation method. This can model effects that may be difficult to model otherwise such as; unequal lane usage at roundabouts, blocking back between linked junctions, circulating lanes at roundabouts and partially signalised junctions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”5\/12″]
