Since its first release, HDM-4 has been used in many countries to support strategic planning, roadwork programming, project appraisal and research and policy studies.
The course combines formal presentations with live demonstrations and guided exercises, giving participants extensive experience in using HDM-4 on their own computers with a temporary training licence.
Over five sessions across two weeks, participants will work through all the main HDM-4 functionalities, including:
- HDM-4 configuration
- Creating vehicle fleets and traffic growth rates
- Building road networks
- Defining maintenance and improvement work standards
- Setting up traffic categories (normal, generated, diverted)
- Project analysis
- Programme analysis
- Strategy analysis
- Calibration of road deterioration relationships
- Calibration of vehicle operating cost relationships
By the end of the course, attendees will be able to configure HDM-4, build and analyse networks, and carry out project, programme and strategy-level evaluations with greater confidence.
